Tasmanian Oak is a warm, dense and resilient hardwood. It works extremely well and produces an excellent finish. A natural characteristic of this timber is to be light in colour. This varies from straw to reddish brown, with intermediate shades of cream and pink. It is recognised for its excellent staining qualities, which allow ready matching with other timbers, finishes or furnishings.

West Australian Jarrah grows only in the South west corner of Western Australia. Jarrah is one of the best known of Australian hardwoods. The timber is deep red to red-brown, medium hardness and heavy, generally straight grained but sometimes contains fiddle back grain. The richness of the colour and the character of the timber make it excellent wood to produce fine long lasting pieces of furniture.
